Free SRT Generator
Turn the speech in your video into a correctly timed .srt file, right in your browser. No account, no watermark: the video never leaves your device, only the compressed audio is transcribed on the server and deleted right after.
An SRT file is the most widely accepted subtitle format there is: plain text, numbered cues, start and end times with millisecond precision. YouTube, Vimeo, LinkedIn, Facebook, most video players and every mainstream video editor can attach one. The catch has always been producing a good one, timing hundreds of cues by hand is slow, fiddly work. This generator does the timing for you: speech recognition with word-level timestamps turns your audio into cue-ready text while the video plays only inside your browser tab.
How to generate an SRT file
Drop an MP4, MOV or WebM into the studio , up to 2 minutes per video on the free plan. Transcription adds automatic punctuation and per-word timing, then the text lands in an editor where every word is clickable. Fix a name, split a run-on sentence, drop a filler word, the cue timing adjusts with your edits. When the text reads right, choose SRT in the export panel and the file downloads immediately.
What a good SRT looks like
Cues of one to two lines, readable in under six seconds, timed to the speech rather than padded across silences. The generator aims for exactly that: cues are cut on sentence boundaries where the audio allows, and words the model was unsure about are flagged with an underline so your review pass knows where to look first. Clear, close-microphone speech usually comes back near-perfect; names, slang and noisy recordings are the parts worth a human check, which is why the editor exists rather than a straight download.
SRT plus everything else
The same project also exports VTT for web players, a plain-text transcript for show notes and descriptions, and an MP4 with the captions burned into the frames for feeds that don't read subtitle files. You never have to pick a format upfront, transcribe once, export whichever file each platform wants. The SRT vs VTT guide explains which one suits which player.
Private by construction
The video never leaves your machine. It is decoded in the browser and never uploaded, there is no server copy of a client's footage or an unreleased cut to leak; only the compressed audio is transcribed on the server and deleted right after processing. Projects, edits and style choices stay in your browser's local storage, and Clear saved data in the footer wipes them in one click.
What it costs
Free, genuinely free, not a trial: 2 minutes of audio per day (resets at 00:00 UTC), videos up to 2 minutes, three caption styles if you also want a burned-in MP4, and no watermark on anything. If you regularly caption longer videos, the paid plans raise the per-video cap to 30 minutes with 150/400/1,000 monthly minutes (Starter/Pro/Studio). Transcription supports English, Hindi and Urdu, including Hinglish and Roman Urdu, with auto-detect available.
