Free Subtitle Generator

Subtitle any video without sending it anywhere. Drop in a clip, get an editable transcript with word-level timing, then export SRT, VTT or an MP4 with the subtitles burned in, all inside your browser.

Subtitles do two jobs at once: they make a video watchable with the sound off, which is how most feed video is consumed and they make it usable for viewers who rely on them to follow along. Producing them used to mean either typing timing cues by hand or trusting an online tool with your raw footage. This generator skips both: the video is decoded in the browser tab and never uploaded to anyone's server, ours included, while only the compressed audio is transcribed on the server and deleted right after processing.

SRT, VTT or burned-in, from one project

Transcribe once and export all three. SRT is the universal subtitle file: YouTube, Vimeo, LinkedIn and most editors accept it. VTT is the web standard, with styling hooks for HTML5 players. And the burned-in MP4 renders your chosen caption style directly onto the frames, the right choice for TikTok, Reels and Shorts, where viewers can't toggle a subtitle track. The SRT vs VTT guide covers when each file type fits.

Styles that survive the scroll

For burned-in subtitles, style is not decoration, it's legibility at feed speed. The studio ships 27 caption styles; the free plan includes three (Classic, Pop and Minimal Clean), tuned for different tempos and moods, each previewing live before you commit. Adjust size, position and colors, keep the text inside the platform safe zones, and what you see in the editor is exactly what viewers see. Every export, file or MP4, is watermark-free.

A draft you control

Automatic transcription is a draft, not a deliverable. Clear speech usually comes back very accurate; names, slang and noisy audio are where errors cluster. The editor flags low-confidence words with an underline and lets you click any word to fix it inline, a two-minute review pass on a short video. Subtitle timing follows your edits, so a corrected word keeps its cue instead of drifting.

Free limits, honestly stated

The free plan covers 2 minutes of audio per day (resets at 00:00 UTC) with videos up to 2 minutes per file, room for a short or two each day. No account is required and nothing expires. When you need longer videos, the paid plans extend the per-video cap to 30 minutes and add Boost accuracy for Hinglish, Urdu and fast speech; anything you correct stays corrected in every export.

Why “in your browser” matters

Subtitling often happens before release: embargoed interviews, client cuts, unreleased drops. Cloud subtitle tools require sending that footage to a server first. Here the video file never leaves your device, it is read from your disk into the tab and decoded there; only the compressed audio is transcribed on the server and deleted right after processing. Saved projects live in local storage and Clear saved data in the footer wipes them completely.
