A transcript is the raw material behind half of content work: show notes and descriptions for podcasts, quotes for articles, summaries for courses, subtitles for editors, searchable text for archives. The slow way is playing the video back and typing. The risky way is uploading raw footage to a cloud transcription service. This tool takes a third path: the video never leaves your machine, it is decoded in your browser, and only the compressed audio is transcribed on the server and deleted right after processing.
How it works
Open the studio and drop in an MP4, MOV or WebM, up to 2 minutes per video on the free plan. Transcription returns every word with its timestamp and a confidence flag on the words the model was unsure about. Read through once, clicking anything that needs fixing, a name, a brand, a term of art and the correction carries into every export. When the text is right, choose TXT and a clean plain-text file downloads immediately.
What the text is good for
The TXT export is deliberately plain: no markup, no cue numbers, just the sentences in order, ready to paste into a CMS, a newsletter, a script doc or a translation brief. The same project can also produce SRT and VTT subtitle files and an MP4 with captions burned in, so if the transcript turns out to be wanted on-screen too, you don't start over. Accuracy, honestly
Clear, close-microphone speech usually transcribes very accurately. Heavy accents, distant mics, crosstalk and music under the voice are where mistakes appear, the model flags low-confidence words with an underline so you know where to check first, and it will tell you when it genuinely can't hear speech rather than inventing words. Background-music-heavy audio gets a voice-focused pass that leans on the speech. Transcription supports English, Hindi and Urdu, including Hinglish and Roman Urdu, with auto-detect available.
The privacy math
That privacy model changes what you can safely run through the tool: interviews under embargo, client work under NDA, internal training footage, unreleased cuts. The video file never leaves your device, it is decoded in the tab, and only the compressed audio is transcribed on the server and deleted right after processing. Projects stay in your browser's local storage; Clear saved data in the footer deletes them in one click.
Free, with real limits
The free tier gives you 2 minutes of audio per day (resets at 00:00 UTC), videos up to 2 minutes each, no account and no watermark on any export. For longer material, the Pro and Studio plans raise the per-video cap to 30 minutes with 400 and 1,000 monthly minutes , the free tier stays free either way.
